As informed in the official website of Marbella Town Hall, there are three different forms to report various cases such as: complaints for loss or theft of documents, notice of abandoned vehicles, and inquiries about the lost items.

By visiting the official webpage, you need to complete the form and the complaint will be available for signing at any of the local police units starting at 10:00 am following the completion of it. And as soon as you ratify the complaints at any of the local police units: Marbella headquarter or offices at San Pedro, you will be attended immediately.

It is the Command and Control Room (Sala de Mando y Control) which guides the Local Police in Marbella by making a database of criminals, crime, and various other incidents which are frequently reported both by emergency telephone numbers 092 or 112, and through the new online reporting system.

To acquire legal validity of the complaint, it’s necessary to sign the copy on the premises of the local police within 72 hours of completing and submitting the form online.

Moreover, misuse of this system by pretending to be a victim of a criminal or non-existent reporting a fact causing criminal proceedings could result in criminal liability.

For the loss of object or vehicle, it’s been asked to provide a description of the items lost. You can also track the status of your complaint and respective administrative proceedings if you have specified some means of contact: phone or e-mail.

The use of this service is only valid for lodging complaints within specified local police stations. Overall, this is certainly a huge help to people in Marbella to ask for police assistance from any place without waiting in queues.

The guitarist and composer Rafael Arreciado, is well known in Marbella for his teaching work in Art and Culture, where he teaches guitar and Modern Harmony for over 20 years. Born in Sevilla 1959, Rafael is a self-taught guitarist who began playing guitar at the age of 12.

It was only in 1984 through the International Seminar organized by Jazz Musicians Workshop in Barcelona, that he opted to have formal education on modern guitar pedagogy. Presently, accompanying other soloist, he is now working with various jazz formations like Rafel Arreciado quartet, Rafael Arreciado Trio, and Alejandra Toledano Trio.

On this occasion, he presents us with a jazz quartet accompanied by Lepinat Oliver on piano, Markus Schneider on bass and Javi Marin Jr. on drums. This is an hour long concert and performances are primarily based on original compositions and some jazz standards.

The Local Security Board (Junta Local de Seguridad) asserted that continuous efforts have been made by the Town Hall to ensure public safety.

The Malaga City Council sub delegate Hilario Lopez has also assured that Marbella is a safe city and the latest data shows that the efficiency of law enforcement bodies is indeed laudable, which enables to increase the number of arrests and offenses clarified.

Town Hall’s effort in dealing all security issues for the improvement of safety and benefits for the public have also included other key projects such as the introduction of video-surveillance system in Puerto Banus, the creation of an office in Extranjeria en Marbella for the issuance of passport and identity card, and National Police headquarter in San Pedro.

Mayor Munoz also met the leadership of the National Police and Civil Guard and discussed the importance of city’s security. It is also informed that San Pedro will have an office of the National Police and for whose implementation the City Council and the Ministry of Interior gave a municipally owned building. Besides, an immigration office will be opened in the neighbourhood of Plaza de Toros.

In relation to these projects, Angeles Munoz has said that the City Council will support initiatives that will provide full cooperation but acknowledged the difficulty of carrying out such projects, notably the extension of the police station in San Pedro, because “the economic situation also affects the investments of the Central Government.

Regarding the implementation of video surveillance system in Puerto Banus, the mayor confirmed that both the provincial government and the Town Hall will work jointly to make this happen. Meanwhile, delegation and City Hall will increase the police presence in the area ahead of next Easter and the summer.

St Patrick’s Day 2010 is cause for a double celebration at O’Reilly’s Irish Pub. Not only will there be the traditional shamrocks and shenanigans expected from this red letter day, but the 17th also marks exactly one year since the bar opened in Gibraltar’s Ocean Village. O’Reilly’s owners, the Hunter twins, promise that this will be a first birthday to remember.

One half of the publican duo, Andy Hunter, explains, “O’Reilly’s will be laying on some authentic Irish craic for Paddy’s Day but, like the black stuff, good things will come to those who wait. The evening will kick off at 6pm with a four bar Irish Pub crawl starting from the Gibraltar Arms on Main Street journeying to The Star Bar in Parliament Lane followed by Casemate’s Lord Nelson before arriving at destination O’Reilly’s. There will be live music, free T-shirts, special Irish shots and plenty of reassuringly ridiculous hats along the way to keep people entertained. We’ll be painting the town green.”

Having launched the Pub with a bang back in 2009, folk band The Shamrock of Gibraltar will be returning once more to lead the singing and dancing at O’Reilly’s. Known for their traditional Irish renditions, some members of the band will be flying over from the Emerald Isle itself especially to join the party. Like others, the Irish Marbella community will also join the event.

Throughout the RBS Six Nations rugby both O’Reilly’s and the Lord Nelson have been treating patrons to ‘five plus one free’ stamp cards redeemable for Carling, IPA and St Patrick’s Day favourite – Guinness. With the tournament not closing until 20 March at Stade de France, this means that the cards will be valid on 17th – so there’s no excuse not to follow the festivities.

John and Andy Hunter have been part of the Gibraltar hospitality scene for 20 years and have five bars under their stewardship – Gibraltar Arms, The Star Bar, Lord Nelson, O’Reilly’s Irish Pub and Britannia Bar within the Cruise Terminal.

For further information on the joint St Patrick’s Day and birthday celebrations please contact Andy Hunter on oreillysgibraltar@gmail.com or visit http://www.oreillys.gi/

Mayoress Angeles Munoz on Tuesday (March 09) announced the City Council plan to invest over 250,000 sq metres of land for the development of educational facilities. This will definitely improve the educational infrastructure of the city, thereby opening many more options for students.

The proposal which is under the new Urban Plan (Plan General de Ordenación Urbana-PGOU) is to focus on the overall development of the region. “It may push the projects needed to retrofit the city with schools and colleges that accurate,” Munoz said.

With the approval of PGOU by the Andalucía Territorial Planning Commission, now there is more land available than ever before. Hence, the local administration can think of using some in various public development works like education, roads, community service etc.

The Mayor of Marbella also informed that the town hall is planning to bring educational facilities in those reserve land in San Pedro Alcantara (both north and in the south), Nueva Andalucía, Nagüeles, Belo Horizonte, Las Chapas, Marbella center, north, Bullring and Trapiche.

It is also said that for many years, despite rising demands, schools were not made or expanded due to the lack of soil. However, as the Mayor assured, the autonomous government “will no longer have an excuse to invest immediately in specific budget items to build new schools and colleges” because the General Plan now includes all parcels subject to house educational facilities.

The mayor noted that the City will send a full dossier to the Andalusian plots with the relationship of education provided in the General Plan and has stated that Marbella is one of the places most worthy investment in this area.

After decades long corruption cases in local councils, this beautiful Costa del Sol town of Marbella has finally retained its legitimacy from the land mafias with the approval of Urban Plan PGOU. Out of a total of 18,000 illegal properties, 16,500 have now been legalised on certain conditions, in which either the developers paid fine or gifted land to the Town Hall.

Of the 1,500 illegal properties, not fully occupied or completed, are excluded from the new plan and waiting for complete demolition. However, the status of 500 illegal building structures (including those 297 Banana Beach apartments) is more complex. Junta wants these demolished but the Town Hall doesn’t want a bad publicity thereafter; the matter is in the court.

The new plan has outlined many things including increased size of Green Zone to a total of 4.8 million square metres, where no construction of any kind is allowed, and limited number of new properties except some low-cost affordable housing (near about 10,000).

The director of the movie Rafael Gordon will attend this special screening scheduled for March 11th (Thursday) in the hall of the Museum of Contemporary Spanish Engravings.

The film portrays the life and work of Spanish painter and photographer Barbara Allende (the real name of artist Ouka Leele), born in June 1957 in Madrid. The artist herself once said that photography is “visual poetry, a way of talking without using words”. And in the same sense, the film discusses how to develop the creativity of a genius, passion and struggle in the mind, painting and photography.

Barbara’s artistic career coincides with the beginning of a cultural revolution in Spain that went beyond music with experimentation in all kinds of art forms. The creation of a 240 square meters mural from start to finish in the village of Ceuti Murcia is the best work to unify memories and sketches of 40 years long work of this artist. In the words of Gordon Raphael, “Undoubtedly, this is the work of a genius, a remarkable woman but that word is not used.”

Black and white photographs, coloured paintings and serigraphs are some of her signature style works. However, when she started to create something new in the early years of her career she began taking black and white photographs and then painted water colours on them, which is still one of the vital characteristics of her work.

Time has elapsed since those beginning but this short documentary is an attempt to put light on the real life and work of this artist by featuring family photo albums and the making of the huge mural for the city of Murcia.

The soundtrack is provided by Eva Gancedo, the long time associate of Raphael Gordon, while the photography is done by July Madurga who has masterfully managed to reflect the universe and colours so personal to Ouka Leele throughout his work.

Director, Gordon Raphael, a product of the School of Dramatic Art, began his illustrious career as an actor in “The Shoe Prodigiosa”, directed by Alfredo Manas. In 1968 he founded ‘Productions Rafael Gordon’ and under this banner he produces, writes and directs his own short films and feature films in 35mm over almost four decades. He has produced and directed several award winning short films, and this one too comes to the same bracket.
