The Municipal Youth delegation of Marbella has announced that it has extended the chiropractic courses to San Pedro Alcantara with 40 new seats, while it has doubled the offerings in Marbella from 32 to 64. The new announcement will come into effect from April 9.

What is Chiropractic?

It is the largest health care discipline and profession after medicine and dentistry. The basic idea of this non-scientific treatment method is based on mechanical disorder of musculoskeletal system which affects the nervous system and hence the reason of many ailments. Despite enormous breakthrough in science and medicine, this has been now widely practiced as a complementary or alternative medicine.

The main theory of chiropractic treatment talks about eliminating the abnormality of the spine, as spinal cord is the source of nerve supply, and brain may affect any part of the body with any kind of subluxation. This method of treatment is generally used as spinal disorders, headaches, neck problem, joint pains or arthritis, etc.

Although there is no such scientific evidence of the effectiveness of this drug-free health care system, personal testimonials of people give positive opinion about this kind of natural treatment. In recent time, chiropractic has gained greater acceptance from the society, medical physicians and has been included in the health plans of many national governments throughout the world.

Marbella PGOU to aid educational infrastructure

Mayoress Angeles Munoz on Tuesday (March 09) announced the City Council plan to invest over 250,000 sq metres of land for the development of educational facilities. This will definitely improve the educational infrastructure of the city, thereby opening many more options for students.

The proposal which is under the new Urban Plan (Plan General de Ordenación Urbana-PGOU) is to focus on the overall development of the region. “It may push the projects needed to retrofit the city with schools and colleges that accurate,” Munoz said.

With the approval of PGOU by the Andalucía Territorial Planning Commission, now there is more land available than ever before. Hence, the local administration can think of using some in various public development works like education, roads, community service etc.

The Mayor of Marbella also informed that the town hall is planning to bring educational facilities in those reserve land in San Pedro Alcantara (both north and in the south), Nueva Andalucía, Nagüeles, Belo Horizonte, Las Chapas, Marbella center, north, Bullring and Trapiche.

It is also said that for many years, despite rising demands, schools were not made or expanded due to the lack of soil. However, as the Mayor assured, the autonomous government “will no longer have an excuse to invest immediately in specific budget items to build new schools and colleges” because the General Plan now includes all parcels subject to house educational facilities.

The mayor noted that the City will send a full dossier to the Andalusian plots with the relationship of education provided in the General Plan and has stated that Marbella is one of the places most worthy investment in this area.

After decades long corruption cases in local councils, this beautiful Costa del Sol town of Marbella has finally retained its legitimacy from the land mafias with the approval of Urban Plan PGOU. Out of a total of 18,000 illegal properties, 16,500 have now been legalised on certain conditions, in which either the developers paid fine or gifted land to the Town Hall.

Of the 1,500 illegal properties, not fully occupied or completed, are excluded from the new plan and waiting for complete demolition. However, the status of 500 illegal building structures (including those 297 Banana Beach apartments) is more complex. Junta wants these demolished but the Town Hall doesn’t want a bad publicity thereafter; the matter is in the court.

The new plan has outlined many things including increased size of Green Zone to a total of 4.8 million square metres, where no construction of any kind is allowed, and limited number of new properties except some low-cost affordable housing (near about 10,000).

Exhibition in tribute to women athletes

In tribute to the women athletes in Marbella, the delegate of Municipal de Igualdad, Mariana Alvarez and the Sports Councillor, Angel Mora, on Wednesday (March 03) inaugurated, a photo exhibition “Women and Sport”, which will be on display until March 17 from 9 am to 14 pm at the Exhibition Hall of the Historic Centre (Street Salinas, 4).

Several administrative members of the City Council, accompanied by few athletes expressed their contentment for drawing a good amount of public response when they received over 500 snapshots of which a selection of photographs are on display.

Angel Mora said that some sample photographs will be featured in this exhibition while other will be kept for future exhibition. “The initiative is a tribute to women athletes, both professionals and amateurs to females in any discipline,” he added.

The municipality has great female athletes in many modalities such as gymnastics, athletics, golf, tennis, paddle tennis, climbing, football and swimming. And such effort from the municipal body will certainly give recognition to young women players who are daily in sport either in schools, or who want to contribute more in professional sports.

Exhibition “Women and Sport” is also a great tribute to women when the world is going to celebrate the International Women’s Day on 8th of March.

It is to be mentioned here that the Mayoress of Marbella Angela Muñoz has already announced the hosting of the women’s tennis tournament “Andalusia Tennis Experience” for the second consecutive year here in Marbella. This is an international tournament and hence will bring the best women tennis players in the world, including Serena Williams. It is scheduled to be held between the 3rd and 11th of April.

Whether it’s any sports event or an exhibition, the sole objective is to encourage and support promotion of women in sport at all levels. And being one of the high-profile cities of Spain, the effort of Marbella Town Hall is indeed laudable.

Museo Ralli in Marbella

Built in an area of 3000 sq. metres, just between the Mediterranean seashore and the most famous Marbella Golden Mile, the Ralli Museum (Museo Ralli) is the fourth in a chain of museums created and funded by a Greek merchant Harry Recanati. The museums have been named after his father Stephenos Ralli.

There are so far five Ralli Museums established in different countries; the first one being in 1987 Punta del Este, Uruguay, while the second museum came five years later in Santiago (Chile). The third museum is in operation since 1993 in Caesarea (Israel) and a fourth one was founded in Marbella (Spain) in 2000.

Furthermore, the latest in the list was opened for public viewing in 2007 in Caesarea, Israel, to be known as “Ralli Museum 2″, which houses some 16th and 18th century classical art. However, the signature mark of these museums is the extraordinary collection of contemporary Latin-American art by living artists.

Just in line with the promotion shibboleth of Latiin-American art, the Ralli Museum in Marbella, too, had some world-class collections thereby giving a good option during your cultural tour. The museum in Marbella includes Argentine paintings and European sculptures by Dalí and Maillol, besides paintings by Marc Chagall, Miro, Paul Wunderlich, and German painter Max Ernst, among others.

Just to mention about the philosophy of this series of Rally Museum, these are privately owned non-profit international organisation and the sole purpose is to draw public attention to the quality of contemporary Latin-American art and promote the works of living artists.

Rally museum, whether in Uruguay or Spain, doesn’t involve itself in any kind of commercial activity. The management neither accepts any outside fund nor intends to make money from these galleries. This is apparent from the absence of any restaurants, bookshops and bars inside the museum complex. Also it doesn’t ask any entry fee from the visitors.

Museum Ralli in the Urbanization Choir Beach of Marbella is a pleasurable visit, where visitors only enjoy observing those pretentiously elegant artistic objects. Moreover, there is no booklet or audio guide inside the museum. This is because, as per the words of the founder, the “purpose is to enjoy art and not to study it”.

Opening hours

The museum is open for public viewing five-day a week, from Tuesday-Saturday 11:30 to 14:00 and 18:30 to 21:00. However, it is compulsory closed on Sundays, Mondays, bank holidays and during the whole month of February.
