The water company Acosol, which comes under the auspices of the Mancommunidad of the Western Costa del Sol, has signed agreements with the public water company Aquamed, part of the Ministry for the Environment, to build four new water treatment plants which will ensure that all water used on golf course will be recycled.
The plants to benefit are in Marbella, Manilva, La Cala de Mijas and Fuengirola.
Currently some 30 golf courses in the region already use recycled water, while the rest use their own wells. 15 new courses are planned in the Manilva, Casares and Estepona areas.
