How long have you lived in Spain and how long is your business established?
[Marijke] I have lived in Spain for 16 years now and my company Residencia Estates was established in 2000
Why did you choose Marbella?
[Marijke] The swimming pool manufacturer that I worked for in Barcelona moved to Marbella, and I moved with them. So it really was more of an coincidence, but once I lived here, I didn't want to leave.
Tell us your greatest business or personal accomplishment?
[Marijke] To have created a healthy business with a fantastic, young and dedicated team
Why would you recommend the Costa del Sol for business and Lifestyle?
[Marijke] The Costa del Sol is still very much a place where if you are willing to work hard and be flexible to the many different cultures, you can be very successful. As for the lifestyle, the weather and the light make it possible to enjoy the days much more and enjoy the outdoors.
Another thing I find very stimulating is the cosmopolitan make-up of this area, where at any given time you could be surrounded by up to ten different nationalities. During a normal day at the office, for instance, you’ll hear at least four different languages being spoken throughout.
If you could change one thing about Spain, what would it be?
[Marijke] The enormous amount of paperwork that one has to go through at the Ayuntamiento or any other official institute
Describe yourself in 3 words.
[Marijke] Hard working, honest and positive
What is your favourite Restaurant in Marbella?
[Marijke] There are so many, depending on the occasion; Zozoi, The Beach House, The Fondue Lounge and Sakura to name a few. All different kinds of food with great service!
What is the last film you saw at the Cinema or DVD?
[Marijke] Fahrenheit 9/11, I don't tend to go to the Cinema or watch DVD's in the summer, spending too much time outdoors!
What advice would you give to someone moving to Spain?
[Marijke] Learn the language!
Name one other business you would recommend on the Costa Del Sol and why?
[Marijke] Marbella Junior Golf Tour, because its a new and great idea to promote junior golf players.
