How long have you lived in Spain and how long is your business established?
[iain] I've lived on the Coast for 3 and half years and the bar business is a new venture which has only been up and running for the last few months.

Why did you choose Marbella?
[iain] Well, Marbella kind of chose me! I was offered a job with a magazine down here and who could refuse moving to the sunshine? It was daunting at first but easy to settle into life here.

Tell us your greatest business or personal accomplishment?
[iain] Interviewing the great Richard Harris just before his death was a career highlight. He invited me for a few pints, even though publicly he was supposed to be off the sauce!

Why would you recommend the Costa del Sol for business and Lifestyle?
[iain] The lifestyle here is incredibly relaxed and laid back. Everything moves at a much slower pace compared with Ireland, and that suits me down to the ground. There is very little of the "rat race" which consumes people back home, and of course there is the beautiful weather, a great mix of nationalities, beaches, etc...

If you could change one thing about Spain, what would it be?
[iain] I would ban mopeds. Infuriating, noisy little contraptions...at least they are in the hands of teenagers.

Describe yourself in 3 words.
[iain] Drunk, hungover, drunk.

What is your favourite Restaurant in Marbella?
[iain] Marbella has some great restaurants but often it is difficult to find something cheap and simple if you don't feel like going for tapas. But my favourite restaurant would have to be Tanguito in the Old Town. Great if you're a meat eater.

What is the last film you saw at the Cinema or DVD?
[iain]  I watched Back to the Future on Spanish TV the other night. Classic.

What advice would you give to someone moving to Spain?
[iain] Far be it for me to cast the first stone as I am not fully fluent, but learn the language. Or at least try. There are so many people who have lived here for 20 years and cannot put a sentence together, which is absolutely disgraceful, and I also think, rude. It's not that hard to learn and with a bit of effort you can at least get your level up to conversational.

Name one other business you would recommend on the Costa Del Sol and why?
[iain] There is a great new golf magazine out called Eat Golf! which really is a breath of fresh air. It's a trendy, brilliantly designed magazine which appeals to the younger generation of golfer who doesn't want to wear plus-fours and tweed caps on the course! It has interviews with the world's top golfers, fashion spreads and golf tips, and also gives the expert low-down on many Costa courses.
