NERJA’S longest beach, El Playazo, has been surrounded by a number of places linked to tourism, such as the chiringuitos and docks. However, according to the PP’s government spokesman, Jose Miguel Garcia, none of these businesses have a licence.
He made his comments through a radio station and mentioned the closure of a caravan parking space in this area, through a formal complaint made by the PSOE. Garcia rejected the statement of socialist Angel Ramirez who said that these areas were protected for agricultural use only.
Instead, he said that these areas were to be used to revitalise tourism according to the Junta’s Plan de Ordenacion del Territorio de Andalucia (POTA) de Axarquia (the plan of development for Axarquia).
Garcia said that he has encouraged the owner of the parking to request a licence from the Junta after having to close his down, and added that the PSOE had rushed to complain about the parking space when it was actually helping to reduce the number of caravans parking along the beach.
In turn, Ramirez, after listening to Garcia’s interview, asked for the resignation of this government representative for his incompetence in identifying businesses operating without a licence. |
