THE councillor responsible for the beaches in Fuengirola, Isabel Morena, gave a press conference recently to assess the blue flags given to the beaches in Fuengirola as the municipality with the most distinctions for the quality of its bathing waters.
Moreno said that the beaches in Fuengirola are well equipped; there are showers, toilets, children“s facilities, sports facilities, etc. Furthermore she said the beaches are accessible for disabled people as there are ramps and parking-bays for disabled drivers.
Moreover, the water from the beaches are analysed every fortnight. The council is constantly increasing and modernising the machinery used to clean the beaches and there are workers at the coast all year round from Monday to Sunday in the mornings to afternoons.
Moreno mentioned that their next initiative will be coming soon and this will comprise of litter bins, signs, safeguard points, umbrellas, hammocks, etc.
The beaches that have obtained the award were: Carvajal, Torreblanca, las Gaviotas-Los Boliches, Santa Amlia y El Ejido-Castillo. |
