This Spanish News Item in English was published on : Sunday, June 15, 2008 (ID:3114)

MALAGA received a very special visitor this week when the cruise ship, ‘Independence of the Seas’, with 3,600 passengers and 1,360 crew members, sailed into the port. The ‘Independence of the Seas’, belonging to the Royal Caribbean Company, is the second largest cruise ship in the world, beaten only by the Queen Mary 2. The cruise liner has everything imaginable, including an ice-skating rink, a theatre, gym, mini-golf, basketball court, disco, surf simulator, rock climbing and the promenade, with shops and restaurants, and even a street parade.

This is the first time the ship has visited Malaga on a 14 night cruise which began in Southampton and will dock in Gibraltar, Barcelona, Nice, Florence, Cagliari, Lisbon and Vigo before returning home. The ship will be seen in Malaga port on another two occasions this summer.
