The idea is not new, but certainly pushes a step further the successful virtual pet (remember the Tamagotchi?) that invaded us almost a decade ago. This new game of virtual reality strives to be much more realistic we can see the girl in a futuristic urban environment, in her home or walking in the park, always displaying the latest looks and fashion accessories offering those businessmen without free time the chance to meet someone and the opportunity to establish a relationship, yet one totally idealised and platonic.
The game is based upon a “prize and punishment” dynamic: if the girl receives presents such as flowers or diamonds (all virtual of course, but paid for with a very real credit card) and kind gestures from the man, then she will be happy and will let him share more moments of her life; but if she doesn't like the gifts, or feels you don't pay her enough attention, she will not answer your messages and will show annoyance. What else can you ask for in a relationship? According to the geniuses at Artificial Life, Inc, this is the perfect match. For them at least it is a sound business, as the girl has expensive taste and also offers the opportunity to place sponsored products in the life-like scenery around her; reaching thousands of users of 3rd generation mobile phones (very popular in Hong Kong), just like in some TV series', producing juicy benefits for the company.
The game aims to be as realistic as possible. It is not a lineal story equal for every player, so the reactions and mood of the girl vary according to the answers and attention she receives. She works, goes out with her friends and goes to the gym, allowing us to have a global vision of her live, not leaving anytime for boredom. The player can call her any time or send her texts, and she will answer with voice messages and videos that will cheer up his day from the screen of the telephone. Another incentive is that the ‘boyfriend’ can choose the appearance and style of the girl, as well as taking a peek at her life, that develops totally independently, as any other sexy twenty-something “manga” girl, who lives in a mobile telephone. Just like real life, isn't it?
