Marbella PGOU Coordinator resigns

Arturo Moya has resigned from his job as coordinator of Marbella’s local development plan, the PGOU. He was appointed in December 2003 by the Town Hall led by Marisol Yagüe, and says he ‘arrived with his hands clean’ and is leaving in the same way. There is, he said, no sense in his position, after the Junta de Andalucía withdrew town planning responsibility from Marbella Council.
He said in a joint press conference with Rafael Duarte, town planning spokesman on the Management Committee which is now running Marbella, that he has renounced all claims to the compensation he is due by law: the Town Hall, he said, ‘is a sinking ship with water coming in on all sides,’ everyone must do what they can to help.
Duarte thanked Moya for his choice to voluntarily resign and give up his right to compensation because of the Corporation’s ’chaotic economic situation.’
Six of the 23 people arrested in Marbella’s Malaya corruption case present court appeals against their imprisonment on remand on Thursday. Reports say they are: the ex mayor of Marbella, Marisol Yagüe, ex deputy-mayor, Isabel García Marcos, ex Municipal real estate assessor, Juan Antonio Roca, one of his alleged front people, Monserrat Cogulla, the ex councillor for traffic, Victoriano Rodríguez, and the local businessman Ismael Pérez Peña.
