As from tomorrow, all drivers in Spain must carry a reflective waistcoat in their vehicles and have it to hand (not in the boot) in case they need to get out at the roadside or while parked in a potentially dangerous position. The waistcoats can be yellow or orange, providing they are approved models. The Spanish Royal Automobile Association, RACE, has warned that around 65 per cent of the fluorescent jackets on sale are not up to standard and advises drivers to be wary of special offers at street markets. The new traffic law was approved last November and also updates the regulations regarding child seats for the under threes.
