Mayor of Marbella in court today
Wednesday, March 08, 2006
Mayor of Marbella, Marisol Yagüe, has rejected calls from the Partido Popular for austerity in the municipal accounts.
She said the wages for the councillors were not overvalued, despite the fact that 20 bosses in eight municipal companies receive a total of 1.62 million € a year.
‘When you contract a professional’, she said, ‘and you give them responsibility, you have to pay the people well’.
This morning the mayor was in court in the town, to declare in the case of alleged irregularities in the awarding of local police places.
Her defence to the court was that she only presided over the tribunal and did not actually correct the test papers presented by the candidates.
